DepoLink d.o.o. was established in 2017 with the primary purpose of providing additional capacity for handling, storage and additional services on empty containers in the immediate vicinity of the Port of Koper. To this end, in August 2018, we opened the first off-dock container terminal on a 30,000 m2 plot of land directly at the entrance to the port. In 2019, the terminal was completed, a new repair and laundry facility for empty containers was added, as well as electrical connections to carry out repairs on refrigerated containers, thus completing the range of services offered on empty containers. The excellent location, the professional staff, the continuous investment in know-how and progress and the high level of support from key customers ensure the company's long-term business stability and enable it to make the appropriate investments for future development.
The year 2022 marks another important milestone in DepoLink's development, as in June we opened an off-dock container terminal on a 15,000 m2 plot of land in the immediate hinterland of the port of Rijeka (Kukuljanovo, Croatia), with the possibility of increasing the capacity. Also in March 2022, for the customer Hisense group, we commissioned an intermodal terminal for container handling inside the Gorenje factory in Velenje, which serves as an intermediate logistics point on the transport route of containers or components from China to the Gorenje production line.
Depolink is now a company with terminals and operations on various locations in Slovenia, Croatia and Serbia. In all three countries there are in total 39 employees. To our clients we can offer all services that a modern terminal nowadays suppose to. We can offer storage and handling of empty and full container and if needed also weighing for VGM requirement. Additionaly we can offer repair and cleaning of empty containers and for refrigerated containers inspection and preparation. To interested clients we can also sell used containers. Beside services related to container manipulations we can offer also storage and handling of palletized good and transport from DepoLink to Luka Koper or vice versa.
At DepoLink, we are continuously working to increase the capacity of our services to keep up with the growing demand of our customers at existing locations and in the wider SEE region. Our long-term strategy is to become one of the leading inter-modal centre operators in the region by opening additional locations and integrating them into our logistics network. In this way, we will provide our customers with a wider regional coverage through a single entry point on the goods transport route.
As a result of the rapid growth in traffic and the increasing demand for our services, in 2021 we purchased additional land in the immediate vicinity of the existing terminal, where we plan to build a new, modern and larger terminal for the handling and storage of containers and other commodity groups. The construction of the terminal will take place in 2023 and the opening is scheduled for early 2024. In addition to the core business of container handling, the 40,000 m2 site will also accommodate a modern warehouse for the handling and storage of perishable goods.
